Sustainability & Transparency

Materials that Matter
Our garments begin with certified organic cotton — grown without toxic chemicals or GMO seeds, protecting soil, water and farmers. Why organic cotton?
- Organic cotton uses ~90% less water than conventional cotton.
- Organic cotton builds healthier soil and biodiversity.
- Organic cotton supports safer working conditions for farmers.
Certification: GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard)
Next step: moving toward Regenerative Organic Certified® cotton by mid-2026.
From seed to stitch, every STAPLE Co piece is made with purpose. We design for longevity, craft responsibly, and keep our footprint as light as possible.
Responsible Manufacturing
We partner with two wonderful factories in India - factories that share our values of fairness, safety and sustainability. What this means:
- Independently audited for safe, fair work.
- Living-wage commitments.
- Closed-loop dyeing → 95 % waste-water recycled.
- Renewable energy (mainly solar) powers production.
We also source a few styles from the Earth Positive Factory and Stanley/Stella - both leaders in sustainable and ethical manufacturing.
Low-Impact Packaging
We keep our packaging simple and sustainable.
- Compostable garment bags
- Plastic-free swing tags.
- Everything can be recycled or home-composted.
Built for Longevity
Timeless design, quality stitching and soft durable fabric mean our pieces are made to last. We encourage mindful love and care for your garments, including:
🧺 Wash cold
☀️ Line dry
🪡 Mend + re-wear
Traceability & Proof
We’re building complete farm-to-garment transparency.
Each STAPLE Co product will soon (2026) include a QR code linking its verified journey: Farm → Spinner → Knitter → Dyer → Cutter → You.
Continuous Improvement
Sustainability is a journey. We are all learning and continuing to make improvements as we do so. If you’d like to learn more or collaborate with us, contact vanessa@stapleco.com.au.
